T104.2b -Screen Sharing - Google Hangouts
As with all things new -- they've gotten too creative too fast and the simple stuff is not necessarily intuitive...
Goto: hangouts.google.com
click on video call
select Hangout1
OR
Message a friend using their gmail address. That will send them an email asking to message together and it will take them to hangouts. The first time they won't show as a conversation. After that they will. If conversation exists, but dialogue has been off for a while, new dialogue will result in an email to them. The email has button to open/goto hangout, but that link doesn't seem to work.
Once they are in the chat box, either person can click on the video camera to start a video chat. It will open a new window.
Once open, either person can then share their screen. Move mouse towards left edge of window and slide out menu will appear.
Blue icon will show/hide chat pane on right.
Green icon will share screen (instead of video camera of person).
To unshare screen and return to video call, click on green icon again.
When screen sharing, you can see which screen you are sharing in the bottom right corner. There are two buttons on the top -- "Stop", which stops screen sharing and "present to everyone". I am not sure how that present to everyone works. I guess if there was more than one person in the group it opens it up (although would have thought that was default). Or it's public? I have no clue.
There is also an icon with a link symbol. So once here looks like you could just email a link to people (and they don't need to be gmail users??)

- If you click start/join a hangout, it will ask for a name -- this is like naming a one time use phone call. it seems rather silly. Maybe at sometime later you could go back and review teh call? No clue then how to delet

Archiving
In the hangouts window you can see past conversations and you can click on them and delete or archive. If you archive them, seemingly you can't find them again in the hangouts window. Never mind... found them... Hamburger/Settings and scroll down to "Archived Hangouts"
You can also find them in the bottom left of the gmail window (so it appears you should really think about hangouts as being an add on to gmail interface. I
